Birthday Craftiness

Hey, uh, how ya doin'?........Are we crafting for Faith's birthday?.....Yes, we are!
Recycled Plastic Bag coin purse and coaster........thank you to the hippie on YouTube
I am not really a fan of the whole ami-cupcake thing, but this turned out rather well.
Definitely a prototype for the bird idea I have a-swirling. I am having a lot of trouble with the legs. Any ideas?
This was a good time...dollar section reusable totes embellished with brads, embroidery and felt shapes. They went over very well.

I don't know what I will work on next. I am pretty pinned down with the day-to-day currently, but I will be back soon.

It's Herb.....with an H

Hello! I made this for a friend at work whose son in law was tragically murdered last week. As my friend Faith puts it, there is no better way to commemorate a person's death than by giving life to something else.
Aside from the hideous orange colored strainer I used as the planter, I really like this idea. I originally saw it in a BHG mag and clipped it for future reference. Well that day has come and my version comes with adorable little plant tags that I made.
Considering this is a first go-round and I was under time constraint I really enjoy the simplicity of these. I hope next time I can give them more thought, but they serve their purpose in this situation.
Unfortunately, these are for indoor use only at this point, until I figure out how to weatherproof them. And I will have do something much better for the back of them next time, but my son and I thought the bugs would look cute and natural (as natural as glitter bugs can be) amidst the herbs.

As far as that damn colander goes, I bought it in the dollar section at Michael's and my choices were this orange or 80's fuchsia. Neither were appealing, but it worked for this occasion and I still think my friend will like it, even if she does just give it to her grandson as a toy.

Dollar Section Find

Typically dollar stores give me gas because they are so full of crap! But the dollar SECTION at Target is much less overwhelming and a fun way to start a trip to my favorite store. Sidebar-I hesitate to say favorite store because, ya know, it's Target.......twill serve for now. I found this pashmina scarf amidst the chaos and it was the last one. I have been wanting one of these for a while now, but couldn't justify the pesos for purchase. And obviously, I got what I paid for, but that means I can alter it without remorse. I think I am going to embroider one end, but I am not sure with what.

Projected Projects

Any guesses as to what I am doing here? I really hope it works.

Otherwise, I have a laundry list of projects I need to start or finish:

Devil Ami for Faith's Friend
Type up and tweak pattern for Exsley
Exsley also needs legs and a belly button
Embroider my new pashmina scarf
Finish my new craft haven in the basement
Lion Ami
Cow Ami
Happy Birthday Banner

I know there is more, but I can't think of them right now and really I don't need to think of them right now.
