The Little Things

We have been watching 'The Sound of Music' repetitiously lately because D enjoys the puppet show sooooooo much. Which got me to thinking about my favorite things like color, stripes, organized anything..........

These are a few of my favorite things: yarn~flowers~chocolate chip cookies~Tori Amos~the beach, the ocean and the sense of calm you get when next to it~dry, red wine~tickling the kids~gingham~trips to Target

What are some of your favorite things?

Paper Products

My first little bit of 8th Child stationery. It is kind of large and I am not sure what I will use it for, but it was free and I love the colors and little bird in the corner. Happy Weekend!

Baby Toy for Evan

The pics leave something to be desired, but I took them at work after I had already given the gift and THEN remembered I still needed to take pics. Oh well. This little guy is based on a free pattern found here.
I like the idea of leaving certain features absent from a finished piece because then the emotion and personality is up to your imagination. And I like to make you think!

Picnic Blanket

We sit outside all summer long and are constantly trying to locate a blanket to sit on. Sometimes we use a sheet.....sometimes we use an old tablecloth.....and then it hit me (while in Target of course). Why not put the two together? End of summer clearance sales always have tons of cute vinyl tablecloths to get rid of for super cheap and I am sure we all have a sheet at home that doesn't get as much time on the mattress as it used to.
This project is sooooooooo simple and if you don't know how to sew I am sure fusible webbing would work too. All you need is a twin size sheet and a 60 x 84 in oblong table cloth of your fancy. Wrong sides out and sew together, turn right sides out........voila! Waterproof picnic blanket that isn't just plaid. Happy Sunday!

Life in Momo and Pawpa's backyard

I took these a couple of days ago while hanging with the rentals and they are the pics I am particularly proud of.I love this pic even with all of its flaws. I keep picturing a little army of cicada shells marching vertically through the trees. I wonder which would make more noise-the marching or the mating call?

Project Number Next

This has been started, but like most projects in my house, has yet to be completed. Sooooo...that is my goal for this weekend. I don't know what color to paint it though............something funky ought to do it.

Any ideas?

Big A$$ Indie Art and Craft Show

The Friday night opening of the Big A$$ Indie Art and Craft show had quite a crowd. Hosted by the Mad Art Gallery and put on by the St. Louis Craft Mafia the show featured about 30 local artists and their wares. There was jewelry and recycled bottlecaps as far as the eye could see, but otherwise the selection was mediocre. Plus with the amount of bodies squeezed in the place it was a little cumbersome to really enjoy and appreciate the art.
Another attempt by Faith and myself to get an acceptable DIY photo.

And this is 90% of the reason we went opening night............Leslie Hall! I highly recommend getting your own pair of gold stretchy pants.
