Photo of the Day - Reminds Me of Faith's Fall

These pin oak leaves were only about an inch in length a couple of days ago....a mini-tree!  I should learn how to better capture scale.

Acid Wash

Lost, Found or Hand-Me-Down

I would like to share a gift I received from the hostess with the mostess.  She picked these off the Oregon coast just for me and they are even more humbling in person.
Here are some of my favorites...
The black stone on the left has a nice sheen to it the other rocks do not possess and the mottled one on the right is rougher than the rest.
These driftwood pieces make me dream of lapping waves, collecting sea glass, warm salty breezes and natural sounds.

Any ideas what I may have in store for these beauties?  I am taking a page out of Margaret Oomen's book.  Her stones are magnificent!

Link up in the comments if you want to play.  Have a great week!

PS - I started school yesterday.
PSS - I loathe group projects.

Sun Flower

Some super saturation here, but I love the idea that a dense gourd could be reaching for the sun bottom's up.

Lost, Found, and Hand-Me-Down

Happy Tuesday is right!  I am dredging up (well actually my mom did) some dollies from my past to let Boober care for now.  And I can tell you she is a fantastic mommy to different sized twins.  Oh the challenges she must endure as a young mother!  Matching babies in two different sizes.....Unthinkable!  Without further ado, let me introduce to you, although some may need no introduction, Rainbow Brite!
This is the real deal folks.  Not the bastardized version you can find at Target.  It's no wonder I loved Rainbow and all her friends so much (I had the whole gang)...just look at that giant forehead.  Finally a doll that looks like me, minus the orange yarn hair, although I probably would have loved that and you know I wore as many colors I could get on my limbs back in the day.
And now, it's time for Ms. Brite and her mini-me to respect a new mommy.  I've no doubt they will be fantastic listeners.  I mean, just look at this precision handling....
Even if DFS shows up, I am really glad my mom saved these for me to give to my little nursery maid.  I hope I can find the books to help round out the fun, but if not we will have plenty of fun pretending we can ride unicorns on rainbow pavement.  Ciao!

What I've Been Up To

First of all (index finger up) I had the chance to cook today.  I mean really cook and I am not even a big fan of cooking.  I am a fan however of making well balanced meals for my family that aren't boring.  Key word there is boring.  Our meals are usually very healthy-watch the sodium, trim the fat, a couple servings of veggies-but since our new work schedules have started dinner time is a race to eat at 6 (i.e. rice, a plant or two and maybe some meat).  It's good too, just redundant at this point.  And I am grateful for the luxury of meal choices, so I am not complaining.  Just a little proactive kitchen antics for the week.  No pics though....my food is not THAT good.
I have been hooking a lot recently and it, so far, has been in harmony with the rest of my day.  I have forgone reading on my lunch breaks for the moment to work on this surprise for a special young man and I am almost done!  This will be the third week I have worked on it and I am pretty sure I will be able to show the complete picture by next week.  Then back to the reading, which, I have already exceeded my goal of one book per month.  Woo Hoo!
I also did some hooking for a friend's birthday and he happens to be an uber-dork for Captain America.  However, I thought of making his gift a few hours before his party and at this point lack pictures.  I need to get it back at some point so I can brag properly.  I would say what it is, but I don't want some other blog-surfer making it and posting it before I get the chance to.
You could technically say I am learning something new, although I have had no instruction here.  I probably won't get any either because I doubt needlepoint is a medium I will use too often.  In any event, our PAT lady had cute rainbow colored die she used for a game she was showing Boober and I decided to make one too.  I anticipate the die is something that can be used for so many childhood applications.
The first to turn.  Our tomato plants this year were a gift from LaBomb's Mom so we weren't certain what type we had exactly.  It looks like we are growing two Roma plants though and that is fine by me.  We also have some gourds-a-growing and two little and I believe hot peppers thriving near the ground.  I never got anything else in the veggie patch this year, but that is ok.  I have plenty to keep the whole family busy.  Speaking of gardens, I also transplanted some of my Gram's flowers to my sunny corner garden and they are filling in nicely and make me think of her.

Other Goings-On:

1.  I am back in school.  Not much further to go and already knee-deep in the bureaucratic bullshit.  I might get a laptop though.
2.  Taking pictures when I can and when I am inspired.  I am trying to spend more time on each shot and learning (slowly) about what I like and don't like when I shoot.  Hubble is very encouraging, which has been an enormous influence for me.
3.  Weddings.  It's that year where you know at least 14 people getting married.  Ours are at least kept to once a month thus far.
4.  TCK is back in business and I couldn't be more excited.
5.  The offspring.  Nothing, and I mean nothing, is getting done at home until the weekends because I am trying to spend the little time I have in the evenings giving quality attention to my babies.  It is not a perfect science as I hate a junky house and there is just a lot going on.  But most of the time I am a good mommy.

Woo, that was a lot if you hung there for the whole thing.  Anyway, see you on Tuesday.  Ciao!

Lost, Found, Hand-Me-Down

Howdy!  How's it been going?  I have kind of an oddball hand-me-down to share this week because I am stumped on how to make it my own.  Any idea what I could be sharing or whose initials those may be?
